My name is Giovanna, I was born in Cattolica Eraclea, a very small town in Sicily. Since I was a little child, I’ve always been attracted by everything about God and at the age of 6, I began to go to church every Sunday. To the catechism, I was told that salvation was by good works (that’s totally wrong, reading Ephesians 2:8-9 “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast”).
The death of a professor I really appreciated, made me wonder: why are we born if we suddenly die? Why did God create us? What’s the meaning of life? My life went on. I met my husband, I got married and I had children. My parents lived in Italy, I lived in Germany and the closest person I had to me was my aunt. With her premature death- she was only 36 years old- I began to look for the truth. I tried with the Jehovah’s witnesses, but I wasn’t positive at all about that. I prayed the Lord to show me the truth. Two days later, two young women knocked on my door; one of them was my compatriot. They told me they were evangelical Christian. At a certain point, they took a Bible out of their bag. They wanted to read something to me, but I stopped them, telling them I felt confused, and they understood it. A while later, they were about to go away and my compatriot asked me: “Giovanna, are you seeking God with all your heart?”. I said yes. She said: “Well, the Lord will answer to you”. And then she added: “When you are alone, bend on your knees and ask the Lord to reveal Himself to you”. And so I did. I asked God to give me the Holy Spirit. I began to read the Bible assiduously and I gradually found all the answers to my whys. From that very moment on, I felt peace and joyin my heart; the anguish and the fear of death left me. Even if I’m sick now, I know the Lord is with me, He doesn’t forsake me. In all things God works for my good.
Dear reader,
stop yourself for a second and accept God’s gift for you: the salvation by grace. Jesus died in your place, for your sins. Receive Jesus in your heart today and you’ll be saved from God’s coming wrath. Don’t you put it off until tomorrow, because it could be too late.
“Today, if you hear His voice,do not harden your hearts” (Hebrews 3:7-8)
